This privacy policy (the “Privacy Policy” or “Policy”) explains how the JLF collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information. “Personal information” means any information relating to an individual that directly or indirectly identifies them, in the course of their activities, including the use of the website accessible at https://www.defi28jours.com/en (the “Website”) and available services (collectively, the “Services”).

In this Policy, any reference to FJL includes all companies within its corporate group, its divisions and other companies within its corporate group, its suppliers or licensors, as well as their respective employees, officers, directors, shareholders, agents, subcontractors, and other representatives. The terms “we,” “us,” and “our” therefore refer to the entity within this group that is responsible for processing your personal information. The terms “you,” “your,” and “yours” refer to any individual who may be affected by personal information for which we are responsible, including users of the Services and visitors to the Website.

The purpose of this Privacy Policy is to present our practices regarding the collection, use, disclosure and management of personal information provided on the Website or otherwise collected in the context of FJL’s activities.

However, if you choose not to provide us with your personal information, we may not be able to provide you with all or part of our products and services.

We collect the personal information you provide to us in connection with your use of the Services, for example:

  • When you fill out our Service subscription forms and account or user profile creation forms, and each time you change your settings and related information, if applicable;

  • We may receive, via our payment service providers (such as Moneris), certain information necessary for issuing donation receipts, such as names, amounts given and contact details;
  • We may also receive lists of donors or users from partners who have obtained your consent to share this information with us.

In all cases, we ensure that the information received is used only for the intended purposes and in accordance with our privacy policy.

We use targeted cookies as part of our marketing. When these technologies allow us to identify you, locate you, or profile you, we will ask for your consent. In practice, this means that we may use third parties, such as Google, to:

  • Remarketing involves displaying advertisements to people who have already visited our website on websites other than our own, including through Google Analytics (a web analytics service). Please note that we do not store any information about your credit cards and process this information through our online payment solution provider.

You can remove your email address from the mailing list at any time by following the instructions in each of our emails. You can also remove your email address from our mailing list by contacting us as indicated in the “Contact Us” section on the last page of this document. Your request will be processed within the prescribed timeframes, if applicable.

Furthermore, access to personal information within FJL is restricted to those who require it to perform their duties.

We are committed to retaining personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it is collected and used, or otherwise to comply with legal requirements, after which we will destroy or anonymize it.

It is possible that the personal information for which we are responsible may be communicated, used, or stored outside of Quebec and Canada, including by some of our service providers who may be located in foreign territory, in which case we undertake to comply with the applicable legal requirements for transfers abroad and to take the measures reasonably necessary to ensure that this information benefits from a degree of protection consistent with applicable law and generally recognized principles.

This information could nevertheless be disclosed to the competent foreign authorities under the laws applicable in the territories concerned.

  • Access to and rectification of personal information: You have the right to access your personal information and the right to request rectification, as applicable, if it is incomplete, inaccurate or ambiguous.
  • Withdrawal of consent to the use or disclosure of personal information: You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. However, this will not affect any uses and disclosures made previously or otherwise permitted by law. If you withdraw your consent, we may no longer be able to provide you with the Services, in whole or in part, which may prevent us from responding to some of your questions or requests, providing you with technical support, or assisting you in any other way related to the use of the Services. If this is the case, we will notify you.
  • Deindexing: You have the right to ask us to stop distributing or deindexing any hyperlink associated with your name.

To exercise your rights, you must contact our Privacy Officer in writing, using the contact information provided in the “CONTACT US” section. We will respond to all legitimate requests within thirty (30) days. If we cannot comply with your request, you will be informed of the reasons and your available remedies.
