Succeeding in your fundraising

Create your team or join one of the participants' teams

Taking on the Challenge as a team is a simple and effective way to succeed in your fundraising efforts.
It allows you to both gain the support of people who are going through the same thing as you, and expand your donor network.

Set your goal

The first step in fundraising is to determine how much money you want to raise for the cause. Whether you have an ambitious vision or prefer to start with a more modest goal, anything is possible. You can also change your goal at any time in your profile, and increase your goal if you complete it before the end of the Challenge.

Reach out to your close network

Sometimes, the answer to our needs is right in front of us. Your network is often the best way to boost your fundraising efforts. And what could be more effective than mobilizing everyone at the same time? Social media is your best friend for that!

MESSAGE 1

To all my friends/colleagues,

Today I am appealing to your generosity for a cause that is very dear to me. This year, I have committed to the 28 Days Sober Challenge to help people struggling with addiction. Throughout the month of February, I will try not to consume alcohol in order to raise awareness among those around me about the risks of addiction and to adopt healthy lifestyle habits that will do me good!

This is a cause that is particularly close to my heart because [personal story].To support me with a donation or to join my team, click here:

Dear [name of your friend/colleague],

This year, I’m taking on a personal challenge that has a much bigger impact than myself: the 28-Day Sober Challenge. In February, I’m putting aside drinking to support people struggling with addiction and to contribute to essential prevention and support programs in Quebec secondary schools.

Why this challenge? Because each of us can make a difference. For me, it’s also a way to take care of myself, reflect on my habits, and prove that together, we can take meaningful actions that truly matter.

If you’d like to support me, whether by donating or joining me in this journey, I invite you to click right here:

Every small gesture counts, and I am deeply grateful to you. Thank you for being part of this challenge with me!

Together, let’s shine a light on this cause

This year, I have committed to the 28 Days Sober Challenge to support people struggling with addiction and to offer prevention workshops in Quebec high schools.

Even if you are unable to donate or participate, you can help in other ways:
  • By sharing this initiative with those around you,
  • By discussing the challenges related to addiction,
  • By encouraging those taking on the challenge with kind words.
Every little gesture counts in promoting this cause that is so close to my heart. Together, we can raise awareness, inspire, and support those who need it.

Thank you for being here and for being part of the movement!

The Challenge glossary

The 28 Day Challenge

A true tradition for thousands of Quebecers aged 18 and over, the 28-day Sober challenge is a social movement that resonates throughout Quebec.

Contrary to what one might think, the Challenge doesn’t advocate strict sobriety but rather well-being and the balance of healthy consumption. In February, we take a pause to reflect, open up the conversation without stigma, and ultimately raise funds to support the programs of Maison Jean Lapointe.

The Fondation Jean Lapointe

The Fondation Jean Lapointe was established in 1982. With Maison Jean Lapointe facing promotion and funding problems, the Foundation was created to help finance the Maison and increase its influence in Quebec.

Gradually recognizing the importance of investing in prevention to avoid addiction-related problems affecting future generations, the Fondation is embarking on an important turning point in its history.

In 2008, the Fondation Jean Lapointe made the decision to dedicate its efforts – and a significant portion of the funds it raises – to the prevention of problems related to the consumption of alcohol, cannabis and other drugs among young people in schools.

From the Fondation Jean Lapointe came the Jean Lapointe Telethon, the Jean Lapointe Centres for teenagers, the 28-day Sober challenge, and countless projects and activities that it has supported for more than 35 years.
